Texas Cake
Ingredients
- 2 cups sifted flour
- ½ cup sour cream
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 sticks margarine
- 8 tablespoons cocoa
- 1 cup water
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- 1 cup pecans
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 stick oleo
- 6 tablespoons milk
Directions
Mix first six ingredients in bowl. Bring margarine, 4 tablespoons cocoa, and water to boil in pan. Add boiled mixture to dry ingredients. Mix well and pour in a large sheet cake pan (15 ½ × 10 ½ × 1 inches) that has been greased and floured. Bake at 350 °F for about 20 minutes.
To prepare frosting, mix powdered sugar, vanilla, and pecans in bowl. In a pan, bring oleo, milk, and remaining cocoa to a boil. Add boiled mixture to dry ingredients and beat until smooth. Frost cake while still warm.
