#1: Multiples of 3 and 5

Problem by Project Euler · on October 5, 2001

If we list all the natural numbers below 10 that are multiples of 3 or 5, we get 3, 5, 6 and 9. The sum of these multiples is 23.

Find the sum of all the multiples of 3 or 5 below 1000.

Python

ans = 0
for n in range(1, 1000):
    if (n % 3 == 0) or (n % 5 == 0):
        ans += n

print(ans)
## 233168

R

x <- 1:999
sum(x[x %% 3 == 0 | x %% 5 == 0])
## [1] 233168
